Chamber Support & FAQ
Writing in about a bug? Include your iPhone model, iOS version, and the Chamber version. Open TOOLS from SHOOT or DEVELOP, then SETUP: the version is under the CHAMBER wordmark at the bottom. It cuts the back-and-forth in half.
This page describes Chamber 2.0. If you haven't updated yet, some names and menus will differ.
Purchases
I paid but Pro features are still locked
Open TOOLS › SETUP and tap Restore purchases under Chamber Pro. The Chamber Pro screen has a RESTORE key too. Make sure you are signed in with the same Apple Account that made the purchase. If it still does not unlock, email us with the date of purchase and we will help.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Subscriptions are managed by Apple, not by us: Settings › [your name] › Subscriptions › Chamber. Manage subscription under Chamber Pro in TOOLS › SETUP takes you to the same place. Cancel there and you keep Pro until the end of the period you already paid for. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
Can I get a refund?
Apple handles all refunds. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.
What is free, and what is Pro?
Free, and staying free: the seven starter looks, 4 bodies, 6 films, the darkroom and sets, the date stamp and delayed develop — full quality, no watermark. Pro adds all 17 bodies, all 28 films, and the halation, light-leak, warmth and border knobs.
Can I try a Pro film or body first?
Yes. Load any Pro body or film and see it live in the viewfinder. Taking or developing a photo with it needs Chamber Pro, and the SEE PRO key opens the Chamber Pro screen.
Does Lifetime include future cameras and films?
Yes. Lifetime unlocks the full cabinet plus future camera and film drops, with no renewal.
Permissions
The viewfinder says camera access is off
Chamber shows CAMERA ACCESS IS OFF when it can't use the camera. Tap Open Settings, or go to Settings › Apps › Chamber on your iPhone and turn Camera on. The darkroom and the roll keep working without the camera. If camera access is on and the viewfinder still doesn't show, close Chamber and reopen it, and if it keeps happening email us your iPhone model and iOS version.
Chamber can't save my photos
Chamber asks to add photos to your library the first time it saves. If you said no, open Settings › Apps › Chamber › Photos on your iPhone and allow Chamber to add photos.
LIBRARY doesn't show my photos
In DEVELOP, set SOURCE to LIBRARY. The first time, iOS asks whether Chamber may see your photos; if a card with a CONTINUE key shows first, tap it. If you chose Limited, LIBRARY shows only the photos you picked, and CHOOSE MORE adds more. If you said no, the card says Chamber can't see your photos: tap OPEN SETTINGS to allow it, or CHOOSE PHOTOS to pick with Apple's own picker, which needs no access.
Shooting and developing
How do I get from the camera to the darkroom and the roll?
Turn the dial under the viewfinder between ROLL, SHOOT and DEVELOP. Swipe it sideways, or tap the name of the room next to you.
How do I shoot in manual?
Pull the exposure cell up and let go: it reads MANUAL, and the rail's rim turns amber. On cameras that support it you set ISO, shutter speed and focus on the sensor, and white balance too on some bodies; aperture and depth of field are simulated. Pull again to go back to AUTO. A body that sets its own exposure says so, and offers one with a dial.
How do I develop a photo I already have?
Turn to DEVELOP and set SOURCE to LIBRARY. Your photos show newest first: tap one to select it, or tap up to 50 for a set. A number shows the order, and a second tap deselects. Then press the release. The developed frames land on the roll, and in Photos too if Save after shutter is on. Each keeps its negative, so you can develop it again on another film or body.
How do I develop a frame again?
Open the frame on the ROLL and tap DEVELOP AGAIN. Chamber keeps each frame's negative for this. Frames from before version 1.2.1 don't have one, so they can't be developed again.
What happens after 36 shots?
Nothing is lost. The roll counter (for example 06/36 exposed) rolls over into the next roll, and your earlier frames stay on the roll. Chamber does not cap how many photos you save.
Where is my photo after I take it?
On the roll. Save after shutter is on by default, and sends it to Photos as well. With Delayed develop on, each frame shows on the roll three hours later and is not sent to Photos automatically: save it from the roll once it appears, or tap REVEAL on the roll to skip the wait.
How do I change the export format?
Chamber saves JPEG by default. To save HEIC instead, open TOOLS › SETUP and switch Format to HEIC. JPEG opens everywhere; HEIC is smaller.
Can I change the date stamp?
Yes. The DATE key in TOOLS turns the stamp on and off, and applies live. With it on, open ADJUST and choose the DATE tool to pick the order of the date. The stamp prints today's date, even on an older photo you develop from your library.
The saved photo doesn't match what I saw
It should look the same: when you press the release, Chamber develops the live frame you were looking at, through the same film graph as the viewfinder. Grain and sharpening can differ slightly at full size, and with flash or RAW capture on, the camera's photo pipeline supplies the still. If you see a real difference, send us both images.
Why is the black-and-white film showing colour?
Lower STRENGTH (TOOLS › ADJUST) and a black-and-white film fades toward a desaturated base, not toward the original colour. At full strength it is fully black and white; Sepia Print stays toned. If you see colour at full strength on any other black-and-white film, email us.
Updating and settings
I updated from 1.x. Are my roll and looks still there?
Yes. Your roll, its prints and negatives, the looks you kept, your purchases and your manual-control settings carry over. If you had already finished the first-run tour, Chamber starts with the lessons marked done; you can replay them under TOOLS › SETUP › Lessons.
Chamber 2.0 won't install on my iPhone
Chamber 2.0 needs iOS 18 or later, which runs on the same iPhones as iOS 17. Update in Settings › General › Software Update.
How do I turn the haptics down or off?
Open TOOLS › SETUP and choose FULL, LIGHT or OFF under FEEL.
How do I share a look, or import one?
Tap LOOK, then the last card, ALL, to open Looks. To share, open the … menu on a look you have kept and choose Share Look, or open a frame on the ROLL, tap SHARE and choose The Look. To import, tap IMPORT at the top left of Looks, pick the file in Files and choose Add Look. Tapping a look file in Messages or Mail won't open it in Chamber, so save it to Files first.
Privacy
Chamber processes every photo on your device. Nothing is uploaded, there are no accounts, no ads, and no third-party analytics. Full details in the privacy policy.
