Finds — secondhand fashion marketplace

Finds is a B2C marketplace for buying and selling secondhand clothes. As the sole freelance designer over a couple of years — lead designer in practice — I ended up touching nearly every surface the product had: the website, the mobile app, the motion design that shipped inside both, and the email campaigns that kept people coming back.

Finds runs on a straightforward idea — a marketplace for buying and selling secondhand clothes — with the kind of scope that only shows up once you're inside a product for a while. This wasn't a single redesign project with a clean before-and-after. It was an ongoing engagement: new features, improvements to existing ones, and design work across whichever surface needed it that month.

Alongside the mobile app, I designed and maintained the Finds website — the other half of a marketplace that needed to work whether someone opened it on their phone or landed on a listing from a search result. Most of the day-to-day work happened on mobile: designing new features, refining existing ones, and keeping both surfaces consistent as the product grew feature by feature rather than in one clean redesign pass — the more common reality of an ongoing freelance engagement.

A good part of the work was motion design — built across a few different animation tools, then exported to Lottie so developers could drop the actual animation into the app rather than approximate it in code. It's a small workflow detail that matters in practice: the animation that ships is the one that was actually designed, not a developer's best guess at it.

Beyond the product itself, I designed the email campaigns — building templates for the different types of campaigns the marketing side needed, from transactional messages to seasonal promotions, all built to the same visual standard as the app.

The part that made Finds worth the couple of years: direct contact with customers. Almost every new feature could go out to real beta testers and come back with feedback fast, instead of waiting on a quarterly research cycle to find out whether something actually worked.
