FocusDrop Support & FAQ
Frequently asked
What are levels and XP?
Levels reflect focused work over time. You earn XP for completing tasks (25–100 XP by size), finishing focus sessions (10 XP), and maintaining streaks (a multiplier from 1.1× up to 1.7×, growing with each streak day). Levels never go down.
Where do swiped cards go?
Swipe right to start focusing. Swipe up to mark done — find those under Stats → Completed Tasks. Swipe left to send to the back of the deck (nothing is deleted). Swipe down to see details.
Can I undo a completed focus session?
No, so finishing takes two taps. Tap the checkmark and it opens into a Finish button with your time so far. Tap Finish to get the XP and the drop. If you tapped the checkmark by accident, tap anywhere else on the screen.
What's the difference between a task and a habit?
Tasks appear in your Deck once. Habits repeat on a schedule: daily, weekdays, weekly, on days you pick, or every few days, every 2 weeks or monthly. Turn on "Make it a habit" when you create a task, or "Repeat as habit" when you edit one.
How does the free tier work?
Free gets 5 focus sessions per day and up to 7 tasks in your deck. Habits don't count toward the cap. Start smaller works on the free plan (its two-minute sessions count toward the 5), and Mend yesterday (once a week), the Apple Watch app and iCloud sync are free. Pro unlocks unlimited sessions and tasks, Co-Focus, AI Task Breakdown (on iPhones with Apple Intelligence), custom durations, mid-session +5 minute extends, streak freezes, heatmap insights, weekly challenges, themes, the Reward Shop, and more.
Can I change my default focus duration?
Yes — Profile → Default Focus. Pro users get the exact custom duration; free users snap to the closest preset (Sprint, Flow, or Deep).
How do I cancel a subscription?
On your iPhone: Settings → [your name at the top] → Subscriptions → FocusDrop. On a Mac: open the App Store app, click your name, then Account Settings, and click Manage next to Subscriptions. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; you keep Pro until then. Refunds are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
How do I restore a previous purchase?
Open Profile → tap the upgrade card → on the paywall, tap "Restore Purchase" at the bottom. Your previous Pro entitlement (subscription or lifetime) will reactivate as long as you're signed in to the same Apple Account. On a Mac: open Settings from the drop in the menu bar and click Restore Purchase.
Where is my data stored?
On your device, using Apple's SwiftData framework, and in your own private iCloud database when your device is signed in to iCloud. There are no FocusDrop servers, and we can't see your data. Deleting the app doesn't delete the iCloud copy. See the privacy policy for the full picture, including how to remove it.
Does FocusDrop sync across my devices?
Yes. When your devices are signed in to the same iCloud account, FocusDrop syncs your tasks, habits and progress through your own private iCloud database. There's nothing to set up. To check the status, open Profile → iCloud Sync. To stop syncing, turn off FocusDrop in the list of apps that use iCloud (Settings → [your name] → iCloud). The Apple Watch app gets its data from your paired iPhone. On a Mac, see the FocusDrop for Mac questions below.
Which languages does FocusDrop support?
English, Japanese, Korean, Traditional Chinese, German, French, Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese. FocusDrop uses your iPhone's language when it's one of these. If your iPhone has more than one preferred language, you can also pick one for FocusDrop in Settings → Apps → FocusDrop. This website, including the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy, is in English. FocusDrop for Mac has the same languages and follows your Mac's language.
FocusDrop for Mac
Where is FocusDrop on my Mac?
At the top of your screen; it has no Dock icon. Look for the drop in the menu bar: it starts a session, picks a focus sound, and opens Plan Today, Tasks & Stats and Settings. On a MacBook with a notch, hover over the notch for a moment, or click it, and the island opens with your next task, a focus dial and today's habits. Press Esc or click anywhere else to close it. On a Mac without a notch, the island lives in a small black pill at the top center of the screen, and with an external display connected to a notched MacBook it stays on the built-in screen. From any app, Control-Option-F (⌃⌥F) opens the island ready to add a task, or to park a thought during a session; press it again to close. The first time you open FocusDrop, its window opens to show you where it lives. If your menu bar is crowded, macOS can hide the drop behind the notch; the island and ⌃⌥F still work, and opening FocusDrop again from your Applications folder opens the island. To start FocusDrop when you log in, turn on Settings → Mac → Launch at login.
Does it sync with my iPhone?
Yes, when your Mac and iPhone are signed in to the same iCloud account. Tasks, habits, focus sessions, XP, streaks and drops sync through your own private iCloud database, and reach your Apple Watch through your iPhone. A timed session started on one shows on the other. Habits are created in the iPhone app; on the Mac you can check them off. Today's plan, parked thoughts, your focus sound and your Mac settings stay on the Mac. To see the sync status, or to turn sync off, open Settings from the drop in the menu bar and go to Sync; a change takes effect after FocusDrop restarts. There's no FocusDrop account to sign in to.
How do I turn on Calendar on my Mac?
Open Tasks & Stats from the drop in the menu bar and choose Today. At the bottom, next to "Show today's calendar events", click Allow, then allow access when macOS asks. Today's events then sit in your plan as fixed points, and your tasks flow around them. FocusDrop only reads today, never changes your calendar, and never stores or sends your events. It's optional, and FocusDrop never asks at launch. If you said no earlier, or want to turn it off, go to System Settings → Privacy & Security → Calendars and switch FocusDrop on or off.
How do I turn off focus sounds?
Focus sounds are off until you choose one, and they play only while a session runs: they stop when you pause, take a break or finish. They're made on your Mac, so nothing is downloaded. To turn one off, choose Off in any of three places: the sound button under your task in the island during a session, Focus sounds in the menu bar, or Settings → Focus, which also has the volume. The chime at the end of a session is a separate switch: Settings → Mac → Completion chime.
Is Pro the same on my Mac?
It's one purchase. Pro bought on your iPhone or your Mac works on iPhone, Apple Watch and Mac with the same Apple Account; if you're already Pro on your iPhone, the Mac unlocks by itself. Free is the same on the Mac: up to 7 tasks in your deck and 5 focus sessions a day, and with sync on your devices share one deck and one daily count. Pro on the Mac removes both limits and adds focus lengths from 5 to 60 minutes on the dial, +5 minutes during a timed session, and the weekly streak freeze. Co-Focus and AI Task Breakdown are in the iPhone app only. To restore a purchase on the Mac, open Settings from the drop in the menu bar and click Restore Purchase.
What does FocusDrop for Mac need?
macOS 14 Sonoma or later, on an Intel or Apple silicon Mac. On a MacBook with a notch, the island sits in the notch; on any other Mac, it's the pill at the top of the screen. Sync needs an iCloud account. The iPhone and Apple Watch apps are optional: tasks, focus sessions, Today and stats all work on the Mac alone. It's in the same eight languages as the iPhone app and follows your Mac's language.

- Your iPhone model and iOS version (Settings → General → About)
- FocusDrop version (Profile → About)
